Meet Me

My name is Yemaya (sometimes called Yem by family and close friends).
The name Yemaya represents a Mother Goddess, a Goddess of home, love and fertility in Yoruba Mythology.
My lineages of Yoruba, Taino, Peruvian and German are woven in to the fabric of my being as I move through my life as a Mother of four and a Revolutionary of Love and Human Being, here in Wales, UK.
I believe that all of life is a ceremony, which has a beginning, a middle and an end, and many large and small thresholds peppered in between that must be acknowledged, traversed and celebrated- bringing our shadow worlds into our consciousness for us to fully mature and complete each stage while standing fully in our power and life path.
My curiosity and passion for human nature took roots in childhood through living in the country side and spending much time alone with the trees. I also enjoyed very much, spending time with elderly neighbours, absorbing their stories and wisdoms into my bones. What teachings came from them!
At 17, after a tumultuous childhood and early teenagehood, I went into the US Army, and soon after, I stepped into Motherhood. I then became a nurse and worked in the US nursing for four years, before returning to the UK to study Occupational Therapy.
With my experience within the healthcare system and supporting people physically who were in transitional times and often at end of life, I became drawn once again to the human stories and divine orchestration of birthing and dying, and the many deaths and rebirths, on all the layers, in between.
Becoming a full spectrum Doula, and holding humans and families through these thresholds is my hearts work and my other offerings are tools that support each persons opening.
I lovingly provide the holding and safety that is sometimes needed for people to enquire of and explore their deep selves, to make changes, to transform, to alchemise the old, the pain, the trauma, the indifference into healing and open hearted living, re-integrating their healing and wisdom into their being.
It is my joy and great privilege to walk along side people of all ages, facing all of the transitions and rites of passage innate to our human experience.
It is in Wales, where I am home, these days. Each day it is my practice to live slowly and intentionally and to bring my heart into each interaction I am with.
I warmly welcome clients of every background, religion, ethnicity, ability, identity and sexuality.
I invite you to feel into your body to find your YES for working with me. Whether it is there or not, trust what arises.
